The falls is located in the valley between the steep, rocky slopes of Red Peak (13,189 feet) and Buffalo Mountain (12,777 feet). Plan to be on the trail for at least two hours and make sure you have the appropriate Beginning at the Buffalo Cabin Trailhead (9,850 feet), hike northwest for a half-mile to a junction where the trail turns left for the ascent to the summit of Buffalo Mountain. Continue on past Salmon Lake trail about 2 miles to North Willow Lake.
In Silverthorne, the Blue River Trail runs 3.5 mi from the Silverthorne Elementary School and North Pond Park through downtown and climbs about 250 ft. to the Dillon Dam, where the trail connects with the Summit County Recpath with trails to Dillon, Keystone and Frisco.hillsides around the lake offer some of the best wildflower viewing in Colorado, particularly between May and mid-July. Make sure you save enough energy to come back because it’s trice as difficult of a return hikeClear trail. It is a hard hike, lots of elevation, but a great workout. At the end of the Acorn Creek trail, users can access the Ute Peak Trail (#24), a 1.2 mile long trail that is faint and difficult, to summit Ute Peak. Then turn around and return the way you came. The Willow Lakes Trail shifts frequently in a thin forest where snow, runoff and overgrowth may obscure it at various times of year. stream
