In 1959, four close sisters, Flora, Pam, Margot and Dot Wilde arrive at Applecote Manor for a turbulent summer.

The writing is rich and descriptive, immersing you in the scenery and the lives of the characters. That, along with the title, led me to assume this was a historical thriller of sorts.

There are all the elements of a gothic novel – an estate with a mysterious history, strange rumors, and interesting characters that leave you guessing. The most likely explanation I can think of is that she and Dalla are Robert's bastards, and Stannis has legitimised Val to shore up his own succession and to help secure the north by marriage.I do not think that Stannis ignores Jon's point about Wildling titles because he knows something we do not -- I think Stannis continues to call Val a Wildling princess because it is easier for him in his rigidity to conceive of the vast Wildling horde in Westerosi terms.

We meet two of the families who have resided and now reside there.Welcome to Applecote Manor in the Cotswolds. And I was not disappointed. Now, I have to admit that this book's cover isn't really a favorite of mine and if not the name of the author had been familiar had I perhaps not have been interested in the book. I think there's an alternate cover with the manor pictuYes, I kept thinking something was going to happen to one of the sisters because of the cover!

'Princess' is really just his way of denoting and addressing an important person in the Free-Folk society, for lack of his understanding of their own customs. In this case, I really think you're reading too much into blonde hair and a silly title. Val exists in the storyline because she is an avatar of the greater Wildling horde and it is easiest to tell the story of all them I agree with most of what you wrote.
Jon is supposedly named after Jon Arryn. It has two timelines, set in the 1950s and the present. Does that question even make sense? The book starts present day and the unkept condition of Applecote Manor and a body. That said, as soon as the idea of being princess catches on - however it is justified - then Ser Patrek & co are going to swarm like bees around honey-coloured hair.I like your point about her being unusual in not referring to herself as a princess.

Putnam’s Sons publication. I didn’t want to put it down.

So, when The Wildling Sisters showed up on NetGalley didn't I hesitate to request the book. Would they be human? I would like to thank the Publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this ARC.

I just think that the three faces on the cover so oddly placed, like why are the third girls face under the other two's? 3.5 Sometimes it's all n the atmosphere , and this gothic tale has atmosphere in spades. She needs "royal blood," so she convinces him that yes, Val must be a princess. We stay the same.

They are not described as being too old for this to work, and they could plausibly be around Mya's age (19).Let's imagine for a moment they are Robert's by some unknown highborn lady or ladies.
