The ONLY thing I didn’t love abt this one is that the words are kind of spaced weird on the pages but tbh that’s on me for not reading it before reading it aloud.

Better the evil ones should be portrayed by cute kittens and lovable puppies, rather than reptiles or birds. Invertebrates and Entomopathogens. There is a wizard lizard towards the middle of the story, so parents who screen for this content might not catch it right away.

This book has lovely pictures, a fun storyline, nice rhyming catchy text and great to bring for a literacy lesson for those in the younger age category.Started out cute but the the rest felt forced and weird.I finally went to the library in the next town over because my request for this wasn't being filled. I would have preferred a lesson in ecology instead- which is where I thought the book was initially going. I loved the beginning of this book.

For children's books, my guinea pigs to see if a book is good or not, I simply read it to my children. Although Julia Donaldson's Superworm is a fun enough and poetically rollicking story (and yes indeed, Axel Scheffler's accompanying illustrations are once again a visually engaging and expressive compliment to Donaldson's presented verses), personally (and indeed as an adult reader) I have found Superworm not all that much to my tastes. We did like that Superworm's friends worked together to rescue him.I am not the intended audience for this book, but normally I love reading Julia Donaldson's books to younger readers.A worm shows his friends all his usefulness by recuing, helping and playing with them.
The pictures are bright and clear and it is nice to have a super hero from something the children just take for granted. The worm wiggles along the animal land to different creatures and helps them in their time of need. This is a fun and fantastically illustrated book that tells the story of rhyme of Superworm, a hero to all the bugs, who is abducted and bewitched by wizard lizard, only to be rescued by his little friends. Your review has been submitted successfully And of all the children's books I've read recently, it's one of the few where the Bad Guy actually gets what's coming to him and everyone bands together to solve the problem, so I'm less annoyed at it.This book is great for new readers, or parent to read to their children.One of my kids all time favourites which always makes them laugh, I don't think you can go wrong with a Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book they are definitely one of the best children's book authors out there!! The basic message is good, the humorous twist of a rope-like hero is funny (though cringe-worthy) and the bad guys are just, well, wrong.I would say this is my favourite story written by Donaldson, I love the flow of the text and the rhymes throughout. One on one or preschool and up for lengthCute, as most books aimed for this age range tend to be. Superworm is a funny story and really nicely read by Imelda Staunton, which makes up for missing out on the drawings. Words and images are both delightful. 1407132350 I didn't like that the lizard and the crow were "bad guys," because it seemed too obvious to make predators into mean characters.
