But also plenty strong enough are two other joints Chris tried out in classroom settings: the bridle joint (slightly easier/faster), then the half-lap joint (easier/faster still). Are you able to hang a large tenon saw (mine is a Lie-Nielsen) With that configuration or would it hit the bottom?I just tested it – the standard LN tenon saw does fit, with about 2″ to spare (there’s 17-1/2″ under the rack)Oh — but you might want to bump it out by 3/4” instead on 5/8”; that will allow for a less/tight fit of the tenon saw (and still work for a DT saw)you didn’t mention that it has pretty little finger prints all inside of it.I’m delighted and not at all surprised to see that it has already sold. Many things will be our first attempts - he points to the economics of buying mass-market junk vs making something for yourself but I'd argue patronage of a peer is a 'middle way,' especially since many times hobbyists make something for themselves, they're making it for the first and only time. I like Schwarz because he puts a lot of time and thought into how he works but what works best for one person isn’t necessarily best for the next. I did leave the book with a better idea of where to start (hoping to hit Shipshewana this year to pick up a jack plane and panel saw), but it would help to have some basic experience before digging into this book. I like the personal story parts the most, to be honest. In so far as the class setting is concerned, good on you for figuring out ways to get the project completed.
